Michael is a seasoned lawyer, investment banker, entrepreneur and investor. Michael co-founded Wazee Street in 2010 and serves as President and Chief Investment Officer. Michael has responsibility for the overall leadership and strategy of the firm and leads all investment decisions. Additionally, he has served on and led a number of formal and informal committees throughout the restructuring process.
Before founding Wazee Street, Michael was the portfolio director responsible for corporate distressed investments at Madison Capital Management. Prior to Madison Capital, Michael was an entrepreneur in the alternative consumer finance space, backed by Friedman Fleischer & Lowe. Before that, Michael was an investment banker at Robertson Stephens and Cowen & Company where he advised technology, consumer and services business on mergers & acquisitions, public and private financings, and other strategic transactions. Michael began his career representing private equity firms at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis.
Michael received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law. Prior to law school, Michael raced bikes nationally and internationally for the US National Team and several trade teams. He served as the head coach of the Stanford University cycling team from 1989-1991.
